Dearborn County Office |

"People helping people help themselves"
The Dearborn County Division of Family and Children (DFC) provides a variety of services to families in need. We administer the Temporary Aid to Needy Families program (TANF), which provides cash assistance to families with dependent children who are deprived of parental support. We also administer the Medicaid and Food Stamp programs, which provide medical assistance and vouchers redeemable for food products only. Child Support assistance can also be given individuals who either have an established order or not. Applicants must meet various financial and non-financial eligibility requirements to receive assistance through any of these programs.
The Dearborn County DFC also provides services to protect children in our community from abuse and neglect. We investigate allegations of abuse and neglect and provide parenting education and in-home services to families at risk. We also license foster and daycare homes and facilitate adoptions.
The Dearborn County DFC office also houses a representative from Healthy Families Indiana, which provides parenting education and other services to pregnant women and families with infants, and a representative from Hoosier Healthwise, which works in conjunction with the Medicaid program. We also serve as the home base for the Dearborn/Ohio County Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
