The Vital Records section of the Health Department maintains and issues birth and death certificates occurring in Dearborn County, Indiana.
Our records begin in 1882, and the open record policy is also available for Genealogy research, based upon the 75 year viewing rule. The State Department of Health Vital Records begin in 1907.
Dearborn County Vital Record Certificate Costs:
A photo ID with the star is required to obtain certified records for self. To obtain a record for someone else, proper documents to show proof of relationship is required. Request forms can be found below in the "News" tab.
Credit Cards are accepted with an added $1 administration fee during the transaction. Cash, Money Orders and Cashier's Checks are accepted, however, personal checks are not accepted.
In some instances, such as settling an estate, the 'Long form death certificate' may be required by that agency, for further questions regarding the long form, please call our office.
